The AEON by Stilform is a pencil you never have to sharpen. Instead of wood and graphite, it features a metal tip that attaches magnetically: just pull it off, snap on a new one, and keep writing. Eternal or Graphite\u2014that’s the real decision<\/h2>\n\n

The AEON features two leads with very different characteristics. The Eternal lead<\/a> is made of a non-toxic metal alloy. When writing, a microscopic amount of material is released and remains on the paper; the line is lighter and harder than that of an HB pencil, roughly equivalent to a 2H. It wears down so slowly that most people never replace it. <\/p>\n\n

The graphite lead<\/a> is made of real graphite, available in HB or 2B. It writes more smoothly and produces a darker line, and it can create shading effects that the Eternal lead cannot achieve. However, it wears down more quickly. It should be sharpened with fine-grit sandpaper; a pencil sharpener would not work here. <\/p>\n\n

If you\u2019re sketching and drawing technical diagrams, you\u2019ll get better results with Eternal: consistently fine lines, no smudging in your pocket. If you\u2019re drawing and working with tonal values, you need Graphite. And since switching between them takes two seconds, it\u2019s not an either\/or question, but a matter of what\u2019s currently on the table. <\/p>\n\n

The AEON pencil is available in several metals, and weight is not a side effect but rather the deciding factor. The aluminum version weighs 27 grams and feels light in the hand without seeming cheap. The titanium version weighs 47 grams. This makes the pen glide more smoothly and feel more substantial on the paper, which is noticeable during extended writing sessions. Titanium has two additional advantages: It does not corrode, not even from sweat, and it shows fewer signs of wear than aluminum. There are three finishes to choose from. The Ballpoint Pen Without a Button<\/h2>\n\n

On the AEON ballpoint pen<\/a>, the twist mechanism is located in the tip rather than at the end. No click button, no clip\u2014just a seamless silhouette. You twist the front part of the barrel, and the tip extends. What Else Goes With It<\/h2>\n\n

The Stilform eraser<\/a> is a Reuleaux tetrahedron. The shape is formed when four spheres are arranged so that each one touches the other three. The result is four curved edges and four points, so you always have a fine tip at hand and can remove a single construction line instead of smudging half the drawing. 36 x 36 x 26 mm, 10 grams. It works well with graphite, but not quite as well with the Eternal nib, because metal\u2014rather than graphite\u2014comes into contact with the paper. <\/p>\n\n
