{"id":4230,"count":1,"description":"<strong>Cologne 1956, Aachen since 1960<\/strong>\r\n\r\nBABOR is a skincare brand from Aachen, Germany, founded in 1956 in Cologne by the chemist Dr Michael Babor. His first product was HY-\u00d6L, a cleansing oil made from hydrophilic, water-soluble oils. It is still in the range today. In 1960 the Vossen family took over the company and moved it to Aachen, and it has been fully family-owned since 1965. Today Isabel Bonacker and Dr Martin Grablowitz run BABOR in the third generation.\r\n\r\n<strong>The ampoule as a signature<\/strong>\r\n\r\nBABOR launched its first ampoule in 1970, and the idea has barely changed: 2 ml of active concentrate in glass, enough for one application after cleansing and before your cream. According to BABOR, each glass ampoule is melted at 1,000 degrees right before filling, filled under sterile conditions and sealed airtight straight away. Since no jar stands open for weeks, the ampoules need very little preservative. The Ampoule Concentrates line includes Hydra Plus, Multi Vitamin, Nutri Restore and Active Night, usually in boxes of seven for one week.\r\n\r\n<strong>Made in its own factory<\/strong>\r\n\r\nBABOR has developed and produced its products in-house since the 1970s. Since 2023, everything has been made at the BABOR Beauty Cluster in Aachen: 60,000 square metres, around half a million products a day, built to the German KfW 40 energy standard. Besides the ampoules, the range includes HSR Lifting, Sea Creation, Skinovage and DOCTOR BABOR (since 2009).\r\n\r\n<strong>Grown up in the beauty salon<\/strong>\r\n\r\nThe brand built its reputation through beauty salons. In 1983 BABOR opened its own training centre for beauticians in Aachen. Today it is represented in more than 70 countries through subsidiaries and distributors, and in Switzerland BABOR Cosmetic AG is based in Pf\u00e4ffikon SZ.\r\n\r\n<strong>BABOR x One Horizon<\/strong>\r\n\r\nAn idea that has barely changed since 1970 has nothing left to prove. That is what we look for: a clear idea and an origin you can check. As a gift, a box of ampoules has an advantage few skincare products share.
