Fan Fun Kyoto
Kyoto, since 1894
Fan Fun Kyoto is the contemporary design line of the long-established Kyoto fan maker Minoya Senpo, which has been producing in the Okazaki district of Kyoto since 1894 — over 130 years. The Fan Fun Kyoto brand was founded in 2017 to translate the centuries-old craft of Japanese fan production into contemporary design.
87 Steps, Bamboo Frame, Washi Paper
Every Kyo-Sensu fan from Fan Fun Kyoto is made through a traditional 87-step craft process. The frame consists of bamboo split into fine slats. The paper is three-layered Japanese washi paper. 100% Made in Kyoto, natural materials, no artificial fragrance.
Botanic, Geometric, Cat
The design lines umo, torie and UNRYU-GOLD use vibrant colour palettes and contemporary motifs: botanics, geometry, cats. The collaboration with design studio niwa brings fresh perspectives to the designs without departing from the craft origins. Available in women’s and men’s models as well as Small and Large.
Craft as an Attitude
Fan Fun Kyoto is available in selected curated design shops in Japan and Europe. The brand sees itself as a bridge between centuries-old craftsmanship and design that still makes sense today.
