The Bottle in Paper Format
Memobottle is an Australian brand from Melbourne, founded in 2014 by Jonathan Byrt and Jesse Leeworthy. The idea: standard drink bottles take up too much space. The solution was inspired by paper formats: a bottle that is as flat as an A5 or A6 notebook and fits in any bag or backpack.
Kickstarter Success and Global Recognition
In 2014, Memobottle raised over AUD 260,000 via Kickstarter — sixteen times the goal. Today, over one million products have been sold in more than 100 countries. Memobottle is B Corp certified (score: 106.6) and has won the Gold Award at the A’ Design Award and the Good Design Award Australia.
Plastic and Stainless Steel
Memobottles come in BPA-free Tritan plastic (dishwasher-safe, lightweight) and aluminium (elegant, robust). Since launch, Memobottle has reportedly prevented around 200 million single-use plastic bottles.
Paper Formats as a System
The range includes the A7, A6, A5 and Slim formats plus matching accessories such as leather sleeves and various lid types. All dimensions are based on international paper standards. That is not a design detail — it is the core principle of the brand.
