Swiss Craftsmanship, Bernese Origins
Margelisch is a Swiss bag brand from Bern, founded in 2009/2010 by Reinhard Margelisch. The brand stands for craftsmanship quality, complete supply chain transparency and materials that can be carried with a clear conscience. Urban, timeless, designed by hand: first as a sketch on paper, then as a cardboard model.
Materials with a History
Margelisch uses waxed canvas from organic cotton (GOTS certified) and vegetable-tanned leather without chrome or PVC. Uniquely, the brand uses upcycled leather from discarded furniture and automotive industry vehicles. Every piece of leather has a past before it becomes a bag.
Handcrafted in Kolkata
Production takes place in a factory in Kolkata, certified to amfori BSCI (TÜV Rheinland) and SEDEX. 65% of production costs are pre-financed. All wages are fair, child labour is excluded.
