Sliding a key onto a regular split ring often costs you a fingernail. That’s why the Rope Split Ring has an extended tab that your thumb can press against. The ring pops open, the key slides on, and you’re done.

Structure

The spring steel ring has a matte finish to prevent anything from sticking to your fingers. It hangs from the end of a braided cord with a solid core, which is secured with a steel clamp and color-coordinated heat-shrink tubing. The cord gives the band something to grip onto, rather than letting it lie loosely in your pocket.

How do I attach keys to the rope split ring?

The spring steel ring has an extended tab. Press it against the ring with your thumb; this opens a gap, allowing the key to slide on. No fingernail or tools required.

What makes the long version different?

The slate-gray version is 24.1 cm long instead of 11.4 cm, and the cord is 20.3 cm long instead of 7.6 cm. This allows it to be wrapped around the wrist or hung from a bag loop.

Do car keys with remote controls work?

Standard keys fit without any problems. For thick plastic casings on remote-control keys, Craighill recommends using a small spacer ring, because otherwise the casing won't slide over the snap ring.
