Sabrage is the technique of opening a bottle of sparkling wine by running a blade along the seam so that the neck of the bottle, along with the cork, pops off cleanly. The Best Champagne Saber is designed for this purpose and was developed in collaboration with sommelier Andre Hueston Mack.
Why the Angle Matters
The grip angle is the same as that of the Best Wine Key from the same line. It automatically guides the blade to run flat along the seam of the bottle, and that is precisely what makes the difference between a clean break and a failed attempt. Weighing 215 g, the sabre provides enough mass to ensure the motion isn’t slowed down.
