Cold-rolled wire has a property that this keychain takes advantage of: it springs back. That’s exactly what creates the clasp—no hinge, no spring, no screw.

A wire, a clasp

The ring is formed from 3.2 mm-thick wire. The overlap is held together by the material’s internal tension, but can be pressed open with your thumb. Keys slide right in without having to force a fingernail into a split ring.

How do I open the Wilson keychain?

The overlapping wire ends can be pulled apart with your thumb. The residual stress in the cold-rolled wire then pulls them back together; no mechanism is required.

Titanium, brass, and stainless steel with a black PVD coating. All three have the same shape, and the wire is 3.2 mm in diameter.
